Welcome to Iceland!
This was my first stop and it did not disappoint! I stayed in the small town of Akureyri (it's small but it's the second largest city in the whole country!! Haha). I was so tired from my flights that I slept way too early and then woke up at 4:00 am... but guess what it didn't matter because the sun was already coming up! So I went and took some pictures while I waited for the rental car place to open. Then I picked up the car and drove to a super tiny town called Fossholl, where I had an equally super tiny cabin to sleep in. It was awesome!!
Then I started exploring more. I saw the waterfall Goðafoss which is named after an event where a man decided Iceland would accept Christianity and so he went and threw all his pagan statues into the waterfall. I think he should have kept some, they'd probably be worth a lot now!!
The last part of my adventure day was driving around the lake Mývatn. There's too much cool stuff around there to tell about, you'll just have to see the photos! But one of them was a cave with steamy turquoise blue water that looked like a good place to get warm!
That's all for now, stay tuned for the next postcard!
Love,
Kaku
